Non-celebrity wins celebrity show. Becomes Celebrity. How very post-modern.
For those of you who have been living under a rock for the last 3 weeks, or are at least fortunate enough not to have a girlfriend who insists on watching a bunch of z-list celebs in isolation, here’s the lowdown…
A 22 year old dizzy blonde promotions girl from Essex was put in the Celebrity Big Brother house with 11 actual “celebrities”. She then had to convince the celebrities that she was a celebrity in order to stay in the show. She then went on to survive the nomination, voting, and eviction process, and won the whole show and a nice little haul of £25,000.
So a non-celebrity has beaten 11 celebrities at being a celebrity by being a non-celebrity.
And has thereby become a celebrity.
How very post-modern.
And they say that TV is constantly getting dumbed down…
Note: The term “celebrity” is used in the loosest possible terms. It should be taken to mean “someone who has appeared in at least one non-regional newspaper at least once in the last 50 years. Maybe.”
